Shale shaker is used to separate more than 75μm solids, and 45~74μm solids for desander, and 15~44μm solids for desilter. Decanter centrifuge is used to separate suspension solids with particles more than 2μm solids in drilling mud. In an addition to shale shakers and hydrocyclones, the use of a high-speed centrifuge has significantly contributed to the ability of a drilling operation to process unweighted and weighted, water-based and oil-based drilling fluids. Sometimes desander and desilter are combined as a high efficient mud cleaner. When air enters into the drilling fluids, vacuum degasser will be used to separate the air. If no air in the mud, the degasser would work as a big agitator. All drilling mud solids control equipments are mounted on the top of the mud tank. After separating the solids, the clean mud would be pumped into the borehole again.
