Brief introduction for mud gun

Mud gun is used to agitate drilling mud on a drilling rig. The mud gun also can be called mud mixing gun. Mud gun is connected to a pump to circulate the drilling mud and prevent the solids from settling in the mud tank. The mud is mixed by being sucked into a pipe by a powerful pump and expelled back into the mud tank by being pushed through the nozzle of the mud gun.

As we know it is usually used together with mud agitator as mixers for oil rig. This will make drilling mud have better effect than using mud agitator singly.

The mud gun is composed of steel pipe and flange, the valves and the rotary parts.

The mud gun is usually divided into three types according to different pressure, including high pressure mud gun with small capacity and large pressure, normal pressure and low pressure mud gun with large displacement and less pressure.

We can also divide it according to different diameter of mud gun body. Aipu solids control will provide NJQ50 and NJQ80 mud gun for you. You could choose relative mud gun according to requirement of different oil well drilling.

Different oil rig have different mud system, such as difference on treating capacity, difference on mud tank capacity, difference on mud properties, ect. Then mud guns should hold relative height, etc. the following will give you some details about different types mud gun.

Aipu Mud gun parameters

NJQ50 holds 2” diameter, and 2” valve can be butterfly or gate valve, then the connector size should be also 2”. The pressure can be normal pressure(1.0Mpa) or high pressure(6.4Mpa), the nozzle number will be customized as 3 or 1. And there will be rotation angle by manual rotation.

There is another common type NJQ80. Almost same with above one just the diameter, valve, connector, etc. Dimension will be 3”.
